Those who prefer to sleep in a variety of positions can benefit greatly from using an adjustable base. You can experiment with different sleeping angles to find the one (or more) that works best for you and your routine.

Specifically, we’ll be looking at the Saatva Lineal adjustable base. Just lay back, relax, and click the remote to have the base adjust to the angle and position that works best for your body. Nonetheless, in my Lineal Adjustable Bed review, I’ll be exploring the base’s capabilities beyond just position adjustment. If you don’t want to spend time reading the entire review, you can get a quick rundown of it here.

What Is The Lineal Adjustable Base Made Of?

It’s important to note that you don’t have to buy a Saatva mattress to use the Saatva Lineal adjustable base; while it was designed to work best with Saatva mattresses, it can be used with any brand of mattress. A mattress that can be used with an adjustable base will do.

Lineal Adjustable Base by Saatva Review - The Sleep Judge

Steel is used for the bed’s mechanical components, which serve as the bed’s “bones;” a single piece of polyester fabric covers the bed’s foundation. You don’t have to worry about this base clashing with the decor in your bedroom because the steel is black and the polyester fabric is grey.

The edges of the base are finished with a thin layer of poly foam for a little extra padding. When getting in and out of bed, you won’t risk injury by striking a steel support post because of the extra padding provided by the bed’s foam rails. The four legs that make up the base are also adjustable and made of steel. The legs can be adjusted to add up to four inches to the bed’s height, bringing the total height of the Lineal from 14 inches to 18 inches off the floor.

There are two plastic corner retainers at the bed’s foot end that you can use to keep your mattress in place as the base moves. The mattress won’t move even if you change positions frequently.

How Do I Assemble The Lineal Adjustable Base?

You’ll be relieved to learn that setting up the Lineal requires little effort. The process of having an adjustable base delivered to your home and set up for you is simple after you place an order for one. If you’d like, the delivery crew will also haul away your old bed at no extra cost. That’s pretty cool, huh?

Every Lineal includes an instructional manual, so you can put it together yourself if you’d like. When it arrives, the base is mostly put together, but the legs, headboard, and mattress retainer clips are missing. The base is quite heavy, so please accept the assistance of the delivery staff. However, once the employees have left, they are no longer required to assist you with set-up. But don’t worry, it comes with detailed instructions in the user manual, and screwing in the plastic mattress retainers or adjusting the legs is pretty intuitive.

How Does The Lineal Adjustable Base Work?

The Lineal adjustable base can be adjusted in every way with the press of a button on the included remote. It’s possible to adjust the height of both the head and the foot of the bed, as is the case with most adjustable bases. Plus, the “positions” button on your remote makes it simple to make any necessary adjustments. To move upwards, use the “up” arrow, and to move downwards, use the “down” arrow. You’re not limited to just one starting position—try switching things up!

The Lineal may leave a small gap between the mattress and the base during position changes if no one is lying on top of the bed at the time. That’s not a sign of a broken mattress or any other problem; it just means that the top is empty. However, the corner retainers will ensure that your mattress stays put on the base at all times, even when you’re sleeping on it.

The Lineal’s adjustable angles and positions are simple to access and provide a high level of comfort, but I will note that the base moves slowly between positions. Testing this base, I found the slow speed to be a bit of an annoyance, despite the fact that it is also very quiet (which kind of makes up for it).

You can save up to three different settings by pressing the “custom” button. Let’s say you’re experimenting with your adjustable base and find the perfect setting; you know you’ll want to return to that spot the next night and the night after that. Simply save your preferred position in a “custom” setting, and it will automatically return to that position the next time you click the button. You can make your base more unique in this way.

It’s important to remember that the remote is not completely one touch, as there are some preprogrammed positions (like TV, Zero Gravity, and Flat) that require you to hold the button down.

What Are The Lineal’s Features?

This base’s versatility does not stop with its ability to shift locations. You can use the remote’s built-in flashlight function, and another button will shine light onto the bottom of the base. Once again, they’re denoted by tiny torch icons on the remote.

The under-bed lighting fascinates me because it can be used for both function and form. The underbed light is helpful if you need to get up and go to the bathroom in the middle of the night or if you need to find something under your bed without turning on the bright overhead light. It serves its purpose, but also gives the room a comforting glow that, in my opinion, improves the atmosphere.

Finally, there is a “zero gravity” function that can be used to set the base in a particular position that will make the user feel “weightless” while sleeping. This function tilts the base’s head and foot to distribute the user’s weight evenly, facilitating better blood flow and relieving pressure on the spine.

If you prefer to watch movies while sitting up in bed, you can select the “TV” position, which will put your body in the optimal viewing position. This device works similarly to a large reclining chair in that it lifts your legs and props up your head. At any time, you can press the “flat” button to have the base quietly and smoothly return to its original, flat position.

As an added bonus, the bed can be pushed up against a wall, which is great for those who are limited on square footage. The bed can be moved into close proximity to the wall without worrying about scratching or otherwise damaging the wall. No matter how you have it positioned, the wall will always be relatively close.

And this base also provides a relaxing massage. A massage button can be found on the remote, beneath the “positions” button. In the “massage” section, you can adjust the intensity and location of the massage provided by the base. The “wave” button allows you to choose between three speeds and varying levels of pressure, and you can use it to massage either your head, feet, or entire body. Instead of using pressing mechanisms, the massage is delivered through vibration, and the base itself contains no moving parts.

Should I Try The Lineal Adjustable Base?

If you fall into any of the following categories while sleeping, you might benefit greatly from using the Saatva Lineal Adjustable Base:

  • Person who enjoys sitting up in bed to read or watch TV before drifting off to sleep may find the predetermined TV position convenient. There are some of the same advantages as a reclining chair, but you don’t even have to get out of bed!
  • Isn’t very handy with tools — The fact that assembly is included is one of my favorite features of this base. The two-person Saatva delivery crew will unpack and set up your adjustable base wherever you like.
  • Wants to make the most of limited space: the bed can be placed flush against a wall without risking damage to the base, thanks to the base’s innovative “wall hugging” design. With this, you can minimize the Lineal’s footprint in your bedroom without sacrificing its functionality.

How Does The Saatva Lineal Adjustable Bed Frame Work?

You’ve come to the right place if you’re not familiar with the Lineal (or with adjustable bases in general)! The construction and operation of an adjustable bed frame are detailed below.

Design

First, let’s examine the Saatva Lineal Adjustable Base’s structure.

Parts

Polyester is stretched over a metal frame to create the Lineal Adjustable Base. The legs can be adjusted so that the bed’s head and/or foot can be raised and lowered independently of each other.

Indicator Lamp

The included remote control makes adjusting the Lineal Adjustable Base’s features a breeze. The remote regulates two motors housed within the adjustable base.

Settings

Many different positions are available on the Saatva Lineal Adjustable Base.

  • The defaults. Adjusting the height of the bed’s head and/or foot is the Saatva Lineal Adjustable Base’s most fundamental feature, reflected in the default settings. Practically any bed with a slatted base fits this description.
  • No gravity, as in. In this position, you will feel as though you are floating in Zero G while you sleep. The back and other areas of the body may feel less strain as a result.
  • Anti-snore. When using this option, your head is raised to a position thought to be most conducive to reducing or eliminating snoring.
  • Memory. You can set the base to remember your preferences thanks to its programmable memory feature.
  • Massage. With this convenient addition, you can get a massage without leaving your bed.

Environments Apart from the Classroom

Besides the aforementioned customization options, the Saatva Lineal Adjustable Base also features a few extras.

  • Light. The adjustable base includes a convenient night light that slides down under the mattress. If you need to make a last-minute adjustment or find something in the dark, you can use the remote’s built-in flashlight to do so without turning on a harsher light and disrupting your partner’s sleep.
  • Drives with USB connections. You can plug in your phone, e-reader, tablet, or other electronic device and get some rest while it charges without leaving the comfort of your bed. If you like reading on your e-reader in bed, this is a great feature because you never have to worry about the battery dying in the middle of your book.

Saatva Lineal Base Mattress Compatibility

Any mattress that can be used with an adjustable base can be used with the Saatva Lineal Base. If your current bed is adjustable-ready, you can use this base with any mattress, not just Saatva’s.

We put the Lineal Base through its paces with a Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress and discovered that it performed as expected. We used the adjustable base with confidence because the mattress was firmly fastened to both the frame and the wire frame at the foot of the bed by adhesive strips. When we adjusted the bed’s head and foot sections, we did not huddle together.

Putting The Saatva Lineal Adjustable Base Together

The Saatva Lineal Adjustable Base was simple to set up and use. The base is shipped fully assembled. The only assembly required is taking it out of the box, snipping the zip ties, attaching the legs, and turning it over. Then, all you need to do is connect the base to the remote control, and you’re good to go!

Lineal Adjustable Bed Review (2022) - Best/Worst Qualities

Warranty

The construction of the Saatva Lineal Adjustable Base is meant to last for a long time. There is a guarantee of 25 years on it.

Return Info

You cannot get a refund or an alternative if you don’t like the Lineal Base.

Saatva Lineal Adjustable Base Performance

Our testing of the Saatva Lineal included looking at its ability to be adjusted, how well it adhered to the wall, how loud it was, how long it lasted, and more. Let’s check out its results!

Materials

Saatva Lineal Base is built to last. A polyester cover protects the metal frame. A thin layer of foam lies beneath the polyester, providing some “give” between the base and the mattress.

Adjustability

The Lineal Base has a lot of different settings to choose from. The top of the body can be adjusted from a lying position to a sitting one. Leg rest adjusts from lying flat to a 45-degree angle, providing comfortable support for the thighs.

Remote Control

The included remote control for the Lineal Adjustable Base is both simple and straightforward. As was mentioned up top, it also has a handy little flashlight for use when it gets dark out.

Wall-Hugging

The Saatva Lineal Adjustable Base, in our opinion, is the best option for wall-hugging. When we lift the mattress, the bed’s entire structure moves closer to the wall. This aids in keeping your bed at its current location in the room.

Noise

As might be anticipated, we heard some rumbling coming from the Lineal Base’s internal motors. It’s possible to find louder adjustable bases, but we have.

Durability

The Saatva Lineal, as we’ve mentioned, is constructed with a metal frame and has a strong overall design. This foundation has a 25-year warranty and is designed to last for at least 15 years.

Zero-Gravity Function

The zero-gravity feature of the Saatva Lineal Adjustable Base is easily activated with a single press of a button on the accompanying remote. The use of this feature does relieve some pressure on the body, especially the back, but it won’t make you feel completely weightless.

Anti-Snore Function

The head of the bed rises slightly when the anti-snore feature is activated by remote control. Studies have shown that sleeping with the head slightly elevated reduces or eliminates snoring. Anyone who shares a bed with a snorer may benefit from this solution.

Massage

In the Saatva Lineal, this is one of the most important parts. The massage function utilizes a wave pattern and can be targeted to specific areas on the top and bottom of the base. There will be less discomfort, and you will have a better chance of falling asleep.

Additional Features

The Lineal Adjustable Base, as was mentioned above, has a few nice extras. The built-in USB ports allow you to charge your phone and other electronic devices while keeping them handy, and the light on the base makes it easy to get around at night.

Pros And Cons

You should feel very well-informed about the Saatva Lineal Adjustable Base at this point. Is your brain a little bit mushy? Then, let’s make things less complicated by listing the benefits and drawbacks of this foundation.

Pros

  • For the price, this adjustable base is a great buy.
  • Very little effort is required to get it up and running.
  • The remote and height-adjustable base are both simple to operate.

Cons

  • The lack of a sleep trial and the inability to return the base mean that you cannot try it out in your own home before making a final decision to keep or return it.
  • This adjustable base is not the most high-end option available and lacks some features that other bases have.
